Natural Healing Tips

A good excerpt from Jill Harrington's newsletter about sulfur allergy and lupus. Good read! Sulfites are listed on some labels as sulfur or sulfa antibiotics..

**************************************
Veronika, a science teacher, told me that she is
very allergic to anything containing sulfur, sulfate
and sulfites.

She almost lost her kidneys, and went through
Cytoxin and Methotrexate treatments.

After years of suffering, she is now much better,
and attributes this to the book, The Lupus Recovery
Diet and also from eliminating sulfate from her diet
and her life.

After discovering how allergic she is to sulfate,
her rheumatologist confirmed that there is a high degree
of sulfa allergy in lupus patients.

Turns out that sulfites are used in most processed foods
as a preservative.

Yet ANOTHER reason to avoid processed and packaged foods!

If you've been following a vegan, whole foods diet -
and are not seeing good results - I suggest you look
into the sulfite connection.

I know that wine kicks my butt, and it's probably
because of the added sulfites.

The U.S. government banned restaurants from spraying
sulfites on fresh fruits and veggies in their salad bars...
but sulfites are still allowed in packaged foods.

Here's a PARTIAL list of food and medication containing
Sulfa:

wine
beer
raw garlic
raw onions
preservatives
epsom salt
pepperoni
bacon and eggs
anything starting with "Sul" on product labels
broth
shitake mushrooms
lunch meats
lemon juice concentrate
lime juice concentrate
cookie
crackers
red wine vinaigrette
many medications including Celebrex and Methotrexate
shampoo
soap
vitamins

As you look at this list, it's obvious that a diet
of fresh, unprocessed fruits and vegetables helps
to eliminate many (though not all) sulfates.

Whole Plant Foods Rock!

Hormone Replacement Therapy Solution Web Link
Many women are now learning that natural hormone replacement therapy is far better than taking synthetic forms of hormone replacement. It is sometimes hard to find a natural hormone replacement. It is good to know what hormones are needed in your body during menopause or after hysterectomy. I found this page that describes the different hormones in a woman's body and how they function. http://www.coxpharmacy.com/compounding/bhrt_faq.asp
