The Health Benefits of Garlic

Garlic is one of those foods that many people love, but they don't eat much of it because of it's pungent odor. Garlic is reportedly known as the "stinking rose", and this term goes back to ancient Greek and Roman times. Although garlic can wreak havoc on your social life if you eat it often, it can be very helpful to your health in so many ways. Certain studies have shown that garlic supports healthy cholesterol, blood pressure, and triglycerides levels. It is also known to assist with issues associated with yeast infections, sore throats, bladder infections, allergies, and the urinary tract. A clove of garlic a day may be helpful in keeping the doctor away. Garlic can be used to bring food to life especially when used with a delicious blend of herbs and spices. Garlic is a great benefit to diet and health.

The Health Benefits of Honey

Everyone has experienced the wonderful, pure and natural taste of honey. It is a special sweet substance that can be used in many ways. Honey has numerous health benefits, and can be used to prevent seasonal allergies, especially if you eat the honey that is produced in your local area. The bees from your area use the pollen from local plants which goes into the honey. Also, honey can be used for a natural sweetener in baked foods, on cereal, and in several drinks like tea or coffee. Some people use honey as a treatment for acne and other beauty treatments.

Smoothies

You can prepare a healthy smoothie for snack time, or any time of the day, especially between meals. Smoothies will give you a great vitamin and energy kick. Smoothies are also a good snack food for kids instead of the fatty snacks that are sold in our markets today. Healthy eating is very important for growing children to prepare their bodies to be strong and healthy throughout their lives.

Tips on Cutting Stress

Stress can be a very unwanted guest in life, especially if it's more stress than you can deal with. Unfortunately, obstacles and problems will get your attention and keep you from relaxing and focusing on other matters. Most of these problems stem from conflicts in the work place, family problems, or problems being in relationships. There are several ways to cut the frustrations of stress in your life. Relaxing is one of the main aspects of managing stress. I have found that doing certain breathing exercises can be a great way to reduce tension and stress in the body. While sitting or standing, you can inhale slowly through your nose while counting to five, and let the air out of your mouth while counting to eight. Doing this several times will help you relax. Excercise and Meditation are great stress reducers. Excercise can include walking, whether walking your dog or walking in a place that will give us a sense of serenity and joy. Meditation can put you in a similar state of mind as in sleep which can be beneficial to warding off stress. Focusing on helping others can also get your mind off your own problems. For instance, you can find time to volunteer or help someone in need.

Sun Exposure and Skin Protection

Having fun in the sun during those wonderful spring and summer months is a must for most of the world. Summer is my favorite season. But there are precautions that should be taken to avoid crucial consequences while basking in the sun, whether at the beach or park or in your own backyard. Heat exhaustion or heat stroke, sunburn, and skin cancer just to name a few are very serious skin issues that result from over exposure to sunlight. To prevent some of these, always check the UV index from your local weather channel, wear protective clothing, a large hat, and always use a good SPF-15 or higher sunscreen lotion. Wearing white clothing will provide better protection than dark clothing. Sitting in the shade is also helpful when you are outside on those hot sunny days, especially if you are out between the hours of 10am to 2pm. Sunshine can also provide an efficient amount of vitamin D which should only take about 15 minutes. Drinking lots of water on those hot summer days will help prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Make sure you have plenty of water and some form of fruit juice handy at all times to stay hydrated and cool, and going inside to a room or building with an air conditioner is helpful if you start to feel drained.

Eat Your Vegetables

Everyone should make sure they get a sufficient amount of vegetables in their diet. It is widely known that vegetables help in the fight against cancer. They are chock full of antioxidants which protect against free radicals that damage cells and therefore causing cancer. Vegetables help detoxify the body and prevent all sorts of problems, such as diabetes. Vegetables along with fruit contain a high amount of fiber. Reach for fruit before you go for another snack. Fruit contains less sugar than other snacks and will provide a great amount of nutrition, and on the plus side will give you a healthy source of energy.
